Mission Youth is a Catholic non-profit organization that runs community outreach programs such as mission trips to 3rd world countries, local missionary work in the United States and runs catholic evangelization efforts. One of their trips that they offer is a pilgrimage to the World Youth Days around the world. They came to us to help produce a promo video for their upcoming trip to World Youth Day 2011 to Madrid, Spain.
Since we have been to the last three World Youth Days (Toronto, Canada in 2002, Cologne, Germany in 2005 and Sydney, Australia in 2008) we were able re-purpose existing footage from the past events to create a new promo for the upcoming video. To generate a lot of excitement, we used very cinematic music to create a dramatic and charging opening before rolling into all of the details of the trip. At the end we picked up the pace with a cinematic crescendo. It is amazing how you can manipulate the feel of any given project with the right music and editing.
The response from the video was pretty compelling especially considering that we did no video marketing for the video. Using YouTube as a launching point, the video has been viewed over 31,000 times with 91 “likes”, favorited 76 times, totaled 38 comments and 25 video embeds among other things. I think its safe to say that this video was a success.
